Jaden Smith has a long history of being in the public eye. For more than a decade, the 22-year-old actor and rapper have been a part of the entertainment industry in one form or another. After starring in The Pursuit of Happyness, The Karate Kid, and After Earth, he began his acting career with a role opposite his father in 2006’s The Pursuit of Happyness. Three studio albums and a string of singles, including “Never Say Never” with Justin Bieber, have been released by him. What do we know about Jaden Smith being gay or not in this post?
Smith’s unique personality and desire to express himself honestly, against conventional expectations and limiting societal standards, are the most interesting aspects of him. What do you think of Jaden Smith’s sexuality? To better understand the performer’s personal life, we take a closer look at what we know.
Jaden Smith: Who Is He Dating Right Now?
There have long been rumors about Jaden Smith’s love life. In addition to Kylie Jenner, Sarah Snyder, and Odessa Adlon, he’s been linked to a lengthy number of other young celebrities. Tyler, the Creator, a 29-year-old rapper, has recently been the subject of rumors that the “Fallen” singer is dating him (more on that story in a bit).
It appears that Jaden Smith is single, despite his previous relationships and the speculation of the media (for now, at least).
Allegations Affecting Tyler, The Creator
Is there a story behind the Tyler, the Creator rumors? As it turns out, Jaden Smith is the one that sparked the whole thing! Back in November of last year, at the Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival music festival, Smith stood up on stage and declared:
“I just wanna say Tyler, the Creator is the best friend in the world and I love him so [expletive] much. And I wanna tell you guys something, I wanna tell you, Tyler doesn’t want to say, but Tyler’s my mother [expletive] boyfriend! And he’s been my [expletive] boyfriend my entire life! It’s true!”
“You take anything away from this [expletive] show, that’s what you need to take away,” he said as the crowd erupted in applause.
As Smith noted on Twitter, “Yup @tylerthecreator I Told Everyone You Can’t Deny It Now,” he reiterated his claim (although he deleted the tweet soon after). On a fan-recorded video, Tyler can be heard responding to Smith’s musical festival proclamation with chuckles, and the “Who Dat Boy” rapper then tweeted, “Hahaha you a crazy n*a guy.”

After Tyler, the Creator won the Grammy for Best Rap Album a few months later, Smith poured fuel to the fire. Smith tweeted, “My boyfriend just won a Grammy!”
In the past, it wasn’t obvious if the actor from After Earth was making light of his connection with Tyler or taking things more seriously. In the absence of any public statements from either performer, the media and fans alike have speculated about the relationship between the two.
However, the two actors have a personal and professional relationship. The following is an excerpt from Smith’s “Beats 1” conversation with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe from last year: “Man, I’m so happy to have this feature from him,” Jaden said of Tyler’s appearance on his single, “Noize.” “It’s the first time. It might be the most talked-about song on the album. You have to hear Tyler’s verse. People are going to listen to Tyler’s verse, and they’re going to come back and look at this, and they’re going to think it’s really funny. Listen to Tyler’s verse. It’s probably like… It’s insane. I’m not going to ruin it, but it’s literally insane…people are not ready. And that’s a fact. This is so far off guard. It’s going to be hilarious.”
Is Jaden Smith Gay?
It appears that Jaden Smith and Tyler the Creator are not in a relationship, despite their repeated protestations of love (and innumerable media claims). In addition, Smith has never publicly stated his sexuality. However, his gender-fluid fashion choices have made him a symbol for the LGBTQ+ community. In 2016, he appeared in a Louis Vuitton womenswear campaign in a pleated skirt and a cool leather jacket. MSFTS is a non-binary fashion line that he founded.
In an interview with Variety in 2016, Smith stated that he came up with the line, “the girl that wants to be a tomboy or the boy that wants to wear a skirt, and people try to condemn. We’re here for you. Tell us your stories. If someone at your school’s trying to pick on you, it doesn’t matter because Jaden Smith’s got your back.”
